Spend Quality Parent-Child Time
Looking for something meaningful and fun to do with your child?

In this 90-minute, hands-on photography class, you and your child will explore photography together—experimenting with a real camera (a super user friend one, even for little kids), discovering new ways to see the world, and taking photographs of each other.

It is quality time, creative play, and learning all rolled into one memorable experience.

Photography Education Designed for Young Learners

Photosprouts has partnered with grade schools to provide engaging photography classes for young children. Now, we’re bringing that experience into our own classroom, where children and parents can learn, explore, and create together through activities designed specifically for young minds.

This class is:

  • For children ages 6–11 and a parent/a sibling /a friend of the child
  • 90 minutes
  • Cameras provided
  • No experience required
  • $125 per parent-child pair
  • Max. class size: 4 parent-child pairs

Parents who would like to learn photography with a teenage child can enroll together in one of our regular photography classes such as the Beginners' Workshop, which welcome participants ages 12 and older. These classes offer more in-depth instruction for older kids who are ready to explore camera settings and photography techniques.

Can My Child Attend With His/ Her Friend or Sibling Instead of A Parent?

Yes! Your child may take the class with a friend of a similar age instead of participating with a parent. The fee is $125 for the two-child pair.

Every Class Is Guaranteed to Run

The class will proceed even if only one parent-child pair is registered, giving you an especially personalized learning experience.

What You’ll Experience

Discover the Magic of Background Blur

You and your child will begin by photographing fun objects such as figurines. Through simple, hands-on experiments, you’ll discover how photographers make a subject stand out against a beautifully blurred background.

Starting with objects allows everyone to explore comfortably before photographing people.

No complicated camera settings required, you will be amazed how everyone can create images with a sharp focus and butter-soft background with some easy, no-photography-jargon tricks.

Learn to Create Stronger Photographs Through Hands-on Activities

You’ll practice easy and practical techniques for:

  • Photographing a sharp subject
  • Finding a better camera angle
  • Choosing a clean background
  • Seeing the light
  • Arranging objects within the frame
  • Making photographs feel more intentional

These are visual skills that both adults and children can understand and use immediately.

Create Something Together

Once you feel comfortable with the camera, the real fun begins.

Parents and children will photograph each other, applying what they have learned about background-blur techniques, light, angles, backgrounds, and composition. You’ll receive guidance throughout the activity, so you can make adjustments and immediately see the difference.

A Real Camera for a Real Hands-On Experience

You do not need to own a camera to attend. We provide beginner-friendly Canon mirrorless cameras for the class.

We believe children learn best by doing. Rather than listening to a long technical lesson, you and your child will begin experimenting with the camera almost immediately.

If you already own a suitable camera and would like to learn with it, you are welcome to bring it.

This experience is designed for Young Kids and Their Parents

The experience is activity-based, hands-on, and fun. Instead of teaching photography through numbers, complicated camera settings, or technical jargon, we help children recognize everyday photo opportunities by developing their awareness of color, depth, dimension, light, and perspective. Parents learn alongside their children, turning photography into a shared creative experience that changes how you both see the world around you.
